no photomanipulation at all. there is a little white wire on the cd, but you don't see it, because it's too bright ;-)
the music-book is from publisher henle.

While some of your heart photographs are manipulated in order to have the correct shape and/or appearance, this photograph is a perfect example of using the tools at hand to achieve a thematic result, in this case music; the most important aspect, however, is the ability and artistic vision to see outside of normal perceptions to recognize a shape, an object, or a pattern, and then find a way to show that to other people. This is the one area I feel perfectly comfortable in giving a "5".

Originality suffers a bit compared to the other areas; this is the fourth book/heart picture in as many months...however, you've managed to use simple every day objects, combine them along a theme (CD/music book), and produce another view inside another theme (hearts)...sort of circles within circles, if you will. While not EVERY photo can be a mind-blowing original, this is one of several in a gallery of similarly themed items.

Kudos on using existing objects to give the appearance of being manipulated even though none was done; using the tiny white wire with the background of choice and the lighting on the disc was well done. You did a lot visually with very little, getting the visual impact across without distracting bells, whistles, or visible background effects. I also find it good that it's not perfect; the book is off centered, as is the CD to the book. Life isn't always centered either, right? I find it to be a bit bright with all of the white; I wonder how it would work with a darker background, or even a black one, a la ebony/ivory contrast?

Perhaps this particular heart photograph has the greatest impact on me since I'm a musician; I found the tie-in between music/love/life through the music book, CD, and heart to be poignant...as if the physical production of things like the CD or representations of music like the book end up being the medium by which love can be expressed, much like they displayed the heart when set up just so with the light.

All in all, this is without a doubt my favorite of the entire gallery.
